Wayne ARC staff members Bonnie Reitz, David Hammond, Karin Young, Mel Austin, Missy Wager, Diana Smith, Kelly Bates and Pat Roberts organized a Holiday Open House and Bake Sale to benefit the Wayne County Humane Society. Wayne ARC staff donated food, litter, newspapers and $300.00 in cash to the Humane Society. Additionally, the dog visiting found a loving home and was adopted.

Wayne ARC, with offices and residences throughout Wayne County, employs over 650 dedicated staff that provide services and support for 1600 individuals of all ages annually with developmental disabilities and their families. Wayne ARC, commonly associated with Wayne County or the Newark DDSO, is actually a private, not-for-profit 501(c)3 organization. The Humane Society of Wayne County located at 1475 County House Road in Lyons currently is seeking loving homes for 60 cats and 20 dogs at this time. They employ 7 devoted staff members plus rely on volunteers and foster families. The Humane Society is open Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 10 to 4:30, Thursday 10 to 6 and Saturday 10 to 4.

The Rochester RAMS Motorcycle Club from Rochester made the 2008 holidays brighter for the families at Roosevelt Children's Center in Newark. Donations are made by the Rochester Rams in memory of Rich Richardson who belonged to the group and worked as a teacher of the visually impaired at Roosevelt Children's Center. Rich passed away in 2002 and the Rams have been providing holiday donations every year to Roosevelt Children's Center in his memory.

This year Roosevelt Children's Center was able to provide over 25 families with toys, books and games with donations from the motorcycle club. The RAMS also made a generous monetary donation which helped several families with food and clothing.

Roosevelt Children's Center, a division of Wayne ARC, provides a variety of educational and clinical services to children ages birth to 5 years, and their families, throughout Wayne County. Wayne ARC, commonly associated with Wayne County or the Newark DDSO, is actually a private, not-for-profit 501(c)3 organization.
